Aloha Update has a Blog

After some copying, pasting, googling, and writing I have managed to incorporate a WordPress Blog into our Aloha Update Website. We have been offline for a little while after the launch of this site but it’s now back and should remain that way. The blog for this site used to be located at a blogger blog that will be offline soon. We are working hard to transfer all the information that was on that blog over here and will subsequently remove that blog from the web once completed. (Note that you will see posts prior to this announcement post because of the other blog we had, we are only transferring some of the posts that seemed most relevent to Aloha Update and things to do in Hawaii)

The reason we decided to put a blog on the website is to enable ourselves to quickly post about the day to day activities that we engage in. As you can tell from the website we are fairly active people who love spending time exploring all that the Hawaiian Islands have to offer. We plan on posting within the blog, which will be located on this first page, regularly while still updating all individual static pages within the site. We decided to keep these static pages because we feel they are easier to maintain outside links to and easier for people wishing to find a specific category within a specific island. This way won’t need a separate blog for each island or 100’s of categories making it torturous for someone to navigate through.

We started AlohaUpdate.com because we were always searching for good websites that offered personally accounts of adventures and outings within the islands. There aren’t many out there from what we could find. Most are generic websites from tour guides hoping you will buy a spot on their boat, or on their bus. Although we find these sites useful if that’s what we are looking to do, they don’t convey all the ins and outs the islands hide from those just visiting or those who just moved here.

Therefore, Kim and I will be posting about all the Hawaiian Islands as we travel around to them. We currently live on Oahu in the city of Waikiki. Between the two of us we have been to the four major islands, Maui, The Big Island, Kauai, and Oahu, and plan to visit the smaller islands like Lanai and Molokai, after I catch up with Kim. (We’re going to Maui in February, that’s the one I haven’t been to!) Our hope is that this site allows people to get more out of their trips to the islands, or just more out of living on the islands for those of you lucky enough to be here year round.

Please Enjoy the site and feel free to contact us with any questions about the islands or about our site.

Aloha,

Kim and Erik
