North Shore Surf on It’s Way

The North Shore of Oahu, famous for it’s monster winter surf, isn’t giving up without a fight this year. As summer looms on the horizon so does a decent swell.

This year, 2006, has been, to use a cliche, and “Epic Year” for surf on the Hawaiian islands. The north shore has seen some of the most consistent surf it has seen in a decade. Although the Eddie Aikau big wave invitational didn’t go off this year there was plenty of big waves for all those to ride. Consistent swells pounded the worlds best surf spots making for back to back to back surf days at both Pipe Line and Sunset. Not to mention every other place you could find a spot in the line-up.

Well, we’re happy to report that the surf hasn’t stopped coming. A fresh new north west swell is on it’s way and expected to reach Oahu by Thursday with waves heights in excess of 5-6 feet traditional scale (10-12 wave faces). With the trade winds slowing midweek that could spell fun in the water on the north shore.
