The Wave Waikiki at the end of (or beginning) of Waikiki on the Ala Wai and Kalakaua side will close its doors at the beginning of June 2006. That’s this year.
The Wave Waikiki has been in operation at the same location for over 25 years. In 2004 the management group that owns the land which is leased to the Wave put the owner, Jack Law, on short term lease, month to month style. The management group based out of LA has had the land the the Wave is on and the lovely lingerie store, along with the vacant lot, the parking lot, and the two low rise structures up for sale since they made Mr. Law sign the month to month lease.
The land was then bought out and luxury condos were to replace all that. However, the deal fell through and a new owner who has not been mentioned has bought the property and it is not known what will be done to the land with the new owner. All we know is that we are sad to report the Wave will have to close it’s doors.
No more black lights and really really really loud music. No more local cover bands gracing our presents. We’ll have to head over to Anna Bananas for that.
