You can now drop off recyclable containers such as aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles in Waikiki. Bottles designated HI 5 cent return bottles may be dropped off to redeem the 5 cents that you (or someone) payed for the bottle or can.

The location of the redemption center in Waikiki is 1812 Kalakaua Ave. This location is right next to the Hard Rock Cafe which is on the corner of Kapiolani and Kalakaua. The center is open for can and bottle redemption Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

Those cans or bottles labeled with the HI5 label are allowed to be dropped off at this center crushed (for aluminum cans) in a bag and they will then be weighed and proper disbursement of funds will be given. For Aluminum cans there are 30 cans per pound and for glass such as glass bottles 2.4 bottles per pound, and for plastics there are 16.6 per pound.

If you live in Waikiki and would like to get money for your cans or bottles this is most likely the closest place where you live.
