July Road Work on the Ala Wai

As if Ala Wai Blvd wasn’t hard enough to travel down the city made it just a little harder. On top of that they took out parking too. Parking that a lot of Waikiki residents rely on.

Since the sewage break in late March, when Oahu and the state of Hawaii came under massive rainstorms the city has been trying to fix the issues with old sewage mains that could break at any time

The casualties in this new parking closure is teh bike lane, which people rely on, and about 65 parking spots that will not be open until next year.

The city which has outlawed, made illegal, and otherwise rediculously closed waikiki sidewalks to any bike, roller blade or skateboard, has now taken out about a mile long critical stretch of the only bike path in the city. That’s right the Ala Wai Bike path is now closed for about a mile beginning on the Kapahulu side. Great work city, couldn’t you have thought of another method to fix your mistakes instead of letting the already space crunched, trying to get excercies bikers pay the price.

On top of that the residents of waikiki will have to find more parking for their cars where they once were able to park on the Ala Wai Canal they no longer can. in most areas. 65 spots to be exact.
