Bring Your Bros, Renting Rates slow on Oahu

Looking to live on Oahu? For the first time in Six years the average rise in rental rates was the smallest. That’s right, all you surf bums looking to head over to Oahu for the pristine surf, the lady’s and the under paying jobs, might not have to shack up with thirty of your closest and smelliest friends.

The rates for all rentals across Oahu are only up 2% since last year. Up to an average of $1,661. Now of course that vaires from place to place with rentals in Waikiki fetching nearly $1200 for some 300 square foot studios, and that’s the cheapest, to some houses going for that same amount. You just gotta not be picky about where you live.

The rental market has seen rates jump as much as 18 percent per year. That’s crazy. Hopefully we’ll see that simmer even more but some guy name Ricky Cassiday doesn’t think so. He wrote in the The Honolulu Advertiser that he sees rates going up at least 5% over the next year and the same goes for 2008. Super!
