On friday, December 1, 2006, the ever so entertaining Jason “Mayhem” Miller (17-4) will be defending his Middleweight Championship Belt against UFC and Pride veteran Frank Trigg (13-5). This is Mayhem’s first title defense since defeating Robbie Lawler back in September by arm triangle. Trigg is coming off a shocking loss to relatively unknown Carlos Condit in the Rumble on the Rock tournament back in April of 2006. After the loss, Trigg went into retirement for a career in mixed martial art reporting for Fox Sports Net’s Pride Fighting Championships. Now, after a short retirement, Frank Trigg is back fighting at a slightly higher weightclass of 185 lbs. Although Trigg has had some losses, they were all to world class fighters like Matt Hughes and the new UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Mayhem on the other hand has had a slew of wins, over fighters like Falaniko Vitale, Egan Inoue, a valiant effort against Georges St. Pierre, and most recently Robbie Lawler. Fans will be cheering for Mayhem as he is now the local favorite, but Trigg is definitely no push-over. With Mayhem’s new training camp with Team Quest (Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, etc), Mayhem is looking to bring a whole new arsenal to the ring. Expect an all out war. I have Mayhem winning by submission, either in the 1st or the 2nd round.

Also, I got news that Robbie Lawler and Falaniko Vitale are both not fighting on the card tomorrow night. Robbie has a broken hand and Falaniko has an injured knee. I wish them a rapid recovery and hopefully we will see them back in the ring soon.
