Get yourself to the annual Punahou Carnival this weekend! The carnival starts today from 11am to 11pm, and continues tomorrow from 11am to 11pm as well. There will be rides, games, prizes, food, entertainment, products for sale, etc.
I of course will be going, since I am an alumni of Punahou. The best part of the carnival, for me, is the food. I’m a big fan of the taco salads, gyros, and teri burgers. I usually spend almost all my scripts on food. Remember to go up to the cafeteria if you want some Hawaiian food. A lot of people I know don’t venture up the campus, but if you do, and reach the cafeteria, you will be treated to Hawaiian food and Hawaiian music.
If you have kids, make sure you go. It is really a fun event for families and friends. The hardest part is parking. Usually the campus will be full, so it’s usually not a good idea to park there. There is street parking, but that’s also pretty difficult. It’s one of those hit or misses. I know people who park as far as Manoa and walk over to Punahou. Even if that’s the case, I still think it’s worth the walk.
Let’s hope this year’s Punahou Carnival turns out as great as it always turns out. You might want to bring your umbrella because it might rain tonight. And as I remember in high school, it seems to ritually rain when the Punahou Carnival is taking place. Don’t let the rain stop you! Have fun and be safe!
