Star Market in Kahala Closing Tomorrow

If you are a regular shopper at the Star Market in Kahala Mall, you probably have been going in this week to get all the items on sale.  This week, everything has been 25% off, with a lot of the items already sold.

As I previously reported about the closing of two Star Market locations, the decision came because of the low sales in those two locations, including the Kahala Mall location.  Just what were the reasons for low sales?  For one, I always find it hard to find parking at Kahala Mall.  If I needed to get some groceries, I don’t really want to spend all my time looking for parking.  The same goes with the Foodland in Ala Moana Center.  That is my only gripe, and knowing that there isn’t much parking at Kahala Mall, I can’t see a grocery store suriving there…and I’m sure the lease for that space is expensive as well.

Kahala Mall hasn’t decided what will take the place of the Star Market location.  The two options were to lease it out to one company to take over the entire space, or to lease it out to several companies to make it a chain of little stores.  I would vote for the latter because Kahala Mall needs more stores.  As small as the mall is, it will benefit with more stores which will give the shoppers more variety when taking a trip to the mall.

Since the Kahala location of Star Market is closing for good tomorrow, head down to find the latest bargains.  Everything in the store, at least what’s left, is 50% off.  Grab it while you can!
