For all your mixed martial art fans out there, don’t miss one of the greatest cards brought to Hawaii from Icon Sport.  On March 31st, newly crowned middleweight champion Frank “Twinkle Toe” Triggs will be facing dangerous Miletich fighter “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler for the middleweight championship belt.

Trigg is coming off a tremendous victory over local favorite Jason “Mayhem” Miller by TKO stoppage in the second round.  He also had success on the most recent Pride card defeating Kazuo Misaki which put him into the top 10 middleweights in the world.

Robbie on the other hand has lost to Mayhe, by submission back in September of 2006, but has regained his composure and KO’d Joey Villasenor in 22 seconds of the first round at Pride 32, and then TKO’d Eduardo Pamplona at IFL just last month.  Robbie is looking to defeat Trigg and get his belt back, and hopefully have a rematch against Mayhem as soon as possible.

Speaking of Mayhem, he will also be on the card facing Hector Urbina.  Urbina will not be a pushover, but look for Mayhem to be the favorite here.  After losing to Trigg, I’m sure Mayhem is on the track to regaining the middleweight belt once again.  With Team Quest (Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland, etc.) at his corner, Mayhem should do what he does best and leave with his hand raised.

Also on the card is none other than BJ Penn’s jiu-jitsu coach Renato “Charuto” Verissimo.  He will be facing Lars Haven.  Bringing Charuto back to the MMA scene was a wise choice by ICON, as Charuto has faced quality opponents including Carlos Newton, Frank Trigg, and Matt Hughes.  Hopefully Charuto can make his comeback and make it back to a top contender in the welterweight division.
