The morning after the brew fest in Kona, Hawaii we walked just down the side street that the Royal Kona Resort is on (where we were staying) to a great little coffee bar called Java on the Rock. For those of you familar with the area it’s right next to Huggo’s.
We were looking for some good coffee to get our day going and also some good breakfast. We found that, and once again got killer views of Kailua Bay while we ate our breakfast and had our 100% Kona Coffee.
Those of us enjoying the coffee decided to go with the super dark and strong blend which was a good choice. We all also had some great omlettes, bagels and papya. The great thing about the bagels was that they put out slicers, toasters and the fixin’s so you could make it up just the way you like it.
The dining area outside of the bar was a about 10 round tables each with their own umbrella on a sand floor. It was literally breakfast on the the beach.
If you’re staying at the Royal Kona and looking for some good Hawaii Kona Coffee to have with breakfast, swing on by Java on the Rock!

Is coffee popular in Hawaii? Any good? Or is it just import?

I just wrote two posts on Kona Coffee. One about the popularity of Starbucks in Hawaii and how Kona coffee is not their best seller, and the other about the difference between 100% kona coffee and 10% kona blended coffee. The big island farmers are fighting to change the law so kona blends have to have at least 75% kona beans in it in order to use the kona name.
We only sell pure 100% kona coffee (and fresh papayas) from Hawaii on our site.
