Huli Sue’s Opens a New Restaurant

I just received this press release goodie in my inbox. Huli Sue’s Barbeque and Grill is a brand new restaurant on the Big Island of Hawaii from the owners of Fujimamas in Tokoyo and Kailua Kona.

The restaurant is described as a cozy country oasis of great food and casual dining. It’s up in the high country of Waimea. Although we don’t have any pictures to show you yet, we can imagine that it’s a pretty sweet place to grab a bite to eat. (On our next trip I think we’ll have to make a stop by.)

The dinner menu looks pretty good with entrees ranging from $10-$20 and a pupu menu that looks pretty original.

Now straight from the press release to you…
Chef Mark Vann, uses original rubs, smokes with Kiawe wood, and makes some of the best sauces you will find, with influences from cowboy cultures the world over. Huli Sue’s will satisfy and make everyone feel at home. The concept starts with the best local ingredients including greens and herbs from Fujifarms just down the road. Cakes and breads are baked in house,
including the signature black pepper cornbread. And in addition to the fantastic, beef, pork, chicken and lamb BBQ, Huli Sue’s has a range of dishes from the grill, fresh local fish, chicken breast, and wonderful curries, homemade soups and spicy pork stew. At lunch time be sure to
try the pulled-meat sandwich with your choice of meat, sauce and stacked high with slaw, onion rings and a side of fries! Kids’menu with lots of choices is also available for smaller cowboys and cowgirls.

And for directions to this gem…
Right on the Mamalahoa Highway, Huli Sues’ makes it’s home in the Historic Fukushima building, offering eat-in and take out 7 days a week. Lunch is casual counter service, Dinner is table service and they will happily pack to go orders all day.
