The city has closed down Ala Moana Park which started yesterday and will continue until Thursday afternoon. The reason for the close down is due to maintenance work that will be done to make the park look better than it does today.
During this day and a half of work, there will be new paint jobs on buildings as well as the repairing of picnic tables and plumbing work to be done. Trees will also be trimmed and the tennis courts will be steam cleaned.
But what does this mean to the public? Well, you can still visit the park, but only if you walk in. No cars will be allowed to park inside Ala Moana Park until after Thursday afternoon. Of course, certain places on the park will be off limits, such as the tennis courts, but the rest of the park is open to the public.
I see this as a good effort by the city, which in turn also allows the public to use clean and aesthetically pleasing parks. And they should look that way, especially since we live in paradise.
