What happened this weekend? I’m talking about all the car accidents that happened over the weekend. If first started when I was going out for my birthday on Friday night, and suddenly we were stuck in traffic on Kapiolani blvd. By the time we got to the intersection by the Convention Center, there were at least 5 police cars, an ambulance, and a firetruck trying to tend to a smashed up Nissan Altima. That was just the beginning. Over the weekend, I was horrified to see the Mitsubishi that pretty much split in half over a crash that happened in Pearl City around 3am Sunday, and killed two people. Again, this was only two incidents of many that I saw on the news or just driving by.
What’s the rush people? All of these accidents happened due to speeding. The Pearl City car that killed two people had the car clocked about double the speed limit. Why in the world would you drive 70 mph in a 35 mph zone? Honestly, what good does it to reach your destination 5 minutes earlier? What’s the point in feeling the “rush” of driving fast when it not only endangers your life but the life of others?
I just find it so perplexing that people are willing to endanger their own lives and the lives of others when they KNOW it’s not right to drive so fast. The speed limit signs aren’t there just to make you get to your destination slower. They aren’t there for fun. They are there to tell drivers a safe speed in which to drive. So what’s the rush? If you find yourself running late all the time, leave earlier! Find a different driving route.
I am just disappointed that people’s lives had to be lost due to speeding. These types of accidents definitely could have been avoided. So please people, drive safely. Don’t be reckless. Think about others the next time you drive…

I must admit that I’m not an early but I’d rather be late and drive with the right speed rather than end up in the hospital or pay someone else’s bills.
