For those of you who are beachgoers, Hanauma Bay is closed due to the influx of box jellyfish and Waikiki has posted their signs to keep people out of the waters. Since this morning, lifeguards have reported over 600 jellyfish, with over 200 yesterday in Waikiki. This influx has caused some people who disregarded the signs to be stung, with about 20 people treated yesterday.
There were also sightings at Pokai Bay, Makaha Surfing Beach, and Waimea Bay. Some north and west shores have also reported some jellyfish on the shores and in the waters, along with some people who got stung.
So what do you do when you get stung? If lifeguards are present, they should have white vinegar to wash out the sting, otherwise you might have to get your own. Make sure you wash out the stinger with lots and lots of white vinegar. If the stinger has wrapped around your arm, don’t touch the stinger to rip it off. Instead, grab the jellyfish by the body and slowly unwrap it.
If you are planning to go to Hanauma Bay today or perhaps this weekend, you might want to replan your schedule to go elsewhere, or maybe just go to the pool. It’s just not worth it to get stung. Be careful out there!

Are there reports of jellyfish in all of the islands, particualarly Maui as well? Or are the jellyfish invasions more of isolated occurance?
Thanks,
