So after hearing much about the newly opened Yard House at the Waikiki Beachwalk, we decided to take our coworker, now ex-coworker, to Yard House for some eats and drinks since it was her last day at work. Unfortunately, there was a party from 6-9pm, so we hung out at Aloha Tower until 9pm. By the time we arrived, the place was already packed and full of people.
We asked for a table, but it was all open seating. All kinds of ages were there, from young to old. Upon arriving, you have to show your ID to make sure you are old enough to drink. They then put a band around your right wrist, and off you go into the bar.
The interior was rather dark, and looked large from the outside, but wasn’t all that big on the inside. Once you walk in on your left, there is a large space for tables that are both on the inside of the restaurant as well as the outside. When you hang a right, the bar awaits you from literally one end to the other. The middle of the bar contains literally 100 beers on tap. Beers range from $5-6, with the large half yard glasses from $9-13. Most people are walking around with the large half yard glasses, which is literally 2 glasses full of beer. Watch out though, because there is a $10 charge if you break these half yard glasses.
Since we already ate at Aloha Tower, we ended up just getting the onion ring tower. The onion rings are stacked on a rod and made to look somewhat like a volcano. They are served with two dipping sauces, chipotle and ranch. The onion rings are also beer battered, very suited for the restaurant, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Let me tell you, these are one of the best onion rings I’ve ever had.
If you ever want to head over to the Yard House, make sure you have a designated driver. With all the beers on tap, it’s hard to stop. Parking is on Beachwalk in the Embassy Suites Hotel. It is a $5 flat rate if you validate, and it’s valet only. Walk through Embassy Suites onto Lewers, and you’re there.
Have fun and be safe! Another success at the Waikiki Beachwalk!
