Today marks the first day of the influx of jellyfish into Waikiki. The Honolulu Advertiser has cited that 95 jellyfish has entered Waikiki this morning. A rise in jellyfish should come tomorrow since it is the time of the month when the jellyfish come closer to shore on Oahu’s beaches.
The public has been warned and the signs will be put up. So basically, enter at your own risk. And if you have any questions, since the beaches are not going to close unless the influx is too great, ask the lifeguard questions before you get into the ocean. Remember to remain safe out there, and if you are stung, the lifeguard should have treatment to help relieve the sting and swelling.
So if you are looking to go to the beach this weekend, you might want to plan another weekend or another beach besides Waikiki. Stay safe out there!
