Dog the Bounty Hunter Series Suspended Due to Racial Slur

The ever popular A&E hit series, Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been suspended by A&E due to Duane “Dog” Chapman saying racial slurs to his son’s African American girlfriend.  So what happened?  Basically, Dog told his son Tucker to dump his girlfriend, Monique Shinnery, and used the n-word six times, which was recorded by Tucker and sold to the National Enquirer who first came out with the story.  The reason for telling his son to break up with his girlfriend was because Dog admits that he uses the n-word at their office and that Tucker’s girlfriend might take offense to it if Dog uses the n-word during casual conversation.

Below is a transcript between Dog and his son Tucker (Source: Star Bulletin):

Chapman: Don’t care if she’s a Mexican, a whore, whatever. It’s not ’cause she’s black. It’s because we use the word “n_____” sometimes here. I’m not going to take a chance ever in life by losing everything I’ve worked for for 30 years for some f____ n_____ heard us say “n_____” and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine — our career is over. I’m not taking that chance at all, never in life, never. Never. … If Lyssa was dating a n_____, we would all say f___ you. And you know that. If Lyssa brought a black guy home … It’s not that they’re black. It’s none of that. It’s that we use the word “n____.” We don’t mean “you f___ scum n_____ without a soul.” We don’t mean that s___, but America would think we’re meaning that. And we’re not taking a chance and losing everything we’ve got over a racial slur. Because our son goes with a girl like that, I can’t do that, Tucker, you can’t expect Garry, Bonnie, Cecily, all them young kids … ’cause I’m in love for seven months, I … f___ that. … So I’ll help you get another job, but you cannot work here unless you break up with her and she’s out of your life. I can’t handle that s___. I’ve got ‘em in the parking lot trying to record us. I’ve got that girl saying she’s going to wear a recorder. …

Tucker: I … I … don’t even know what to say.

Hopefully this issue gets resolved.  Even though I haven’t met Dog, he seems like a very nice person and I feel as though he did not have any malicious intent when using the n-word.  I can’t justify the reason for Dog or anyone else who is not black to use the n-word, but just knowing how Dog is, I say give him some slack.  I know I know, he’s a celebrity, so people expect him to only get a slap on the hand.  But he has already issued an apology, and has admitted that he should not have used the word, especially in casual conversation.

Let’s hope Dog gets out of this.  Dog is a good man doing good deeds.  Help him instead of hurting him.  He’s gone through enough already.

I hope the Dog gets this resolved too. He has turned his life around and is working to better the lives of those around him.

Hopefully he can figure out something positive out of this.

I heard his apology on the news last night and it seemed genuine. :)

He’s a bigot. They’re always sorry when they get caught being a bigot. I hope it ends his TV career.

  5. karen mckay Says:

HE SHOULD HAVE NOT USED THE N WORD, BUT HE UPSET WITH HIS SON TUCKER, IF HE WAS A RACIST WHY WAS HE ALLOWING HIS SON TO DATE THIS BLACK GIRL. THE PERSON I AM PROBABLY UPSET THE MOST IS HIS SON, TUCKER AS HE WAS THE ONE THAT SOLD THE TAPE TO THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER FOR SOME CASH FOR HIMSELF. HOW COULD HE DO THIS TO HIS DAD. THE STORY HAS BEEN TAKING OUT OF CONTENT, AS I FEEL DUANE CHAPMAN MADE A MISTAKE. IF HE WAS A RACIST EVERYONE, WHY WOULD HE HAVE A PASTOR WHO IS BLACK? HE ATTENDS CHURCHES THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ATTENDING ARE BLACK? IF HE WAS A RACIST DON’T YOU THINK HE WOULD STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM BLACK PEOPLE. TUCKER IS THE PROBLEM IN THE CHAPMAN FAMILY.

  6. dont worry about it... Says:

Dog is a RESPECTED man in Hawaii, it’s sad how his son sold him out like that, for what, MONEY…and when the money’s out…he’s going to want help from his dad…isn’t this the son that was in jail the son that DOG took in and helped him get a job…everyone is racist, look the definiton up…it doesnt only refer to hatred towards another person…let GOD be the judge! you dont see mexicans, indians, chinese and all the cultures in the world pull racist cards…Karmas a bitch,it’ll eat tuckers ass not now but later…

  7. Bounty Hunter Fan Says:

This is sad, when a man has grown children who are so jealous of his success in turning his life around, they have to use any means possible to bring him down. Has anyone else noticed that Dog has other grown children who have been collecting money from the tabloids to trash his reputation? They are not on TV, so they don’t want him or the other siblings on their either. Dog was set up.
And let those among us who have NEVER said or done anything they have regretted later, be the first to cast a stone at Dog. If everyone is honest, there will be no stones thrown at the Dog.
I hope A&E is not stupid enough to cancel his show. Dog………heads up bra. Be more aware and careful. By the way, maybe you can prosecute him for illegally recording you???? Good luck
    with this.

  8. Amy Says:

It is not about pulling a “racist” card. White america will never understand how offensive that word is to blacks. No matter who says it, white america seems to think it is ok and we should just turn the other cheek. This is why racism still exists and always will with these attitudes.

  9. cannon Says:

I am a bounty hunter. I am NOT a huge Dog fan. BUT…I am a fairly smart person. My “spidey senses”, my gut and my life experience(s) tell me this.

    Let Dog slide.

Don’t analyze this…don’t beat it to death. Let it frickin’ GO.

Al Sharpton will drag this around for ever and a day…stirring up more crap than Carter has Liver Pills.

I am one of those guys that can honestly say I have a few friends “of color”. I have called them a-holes, mutha effers, …you name it. Simply because they were humans that torqued me off.

If any “outsiders” ever heard me blow off steam in their direction….I’d be renamed Mark Imus-Chapman.

  10. brody Says:

double standards!!! its ok 2 get Racial just dont do it if your white,ok crackers and honkys!….all this 4 the n-word!!! yes the dog fucked up so what!! feedom of speech. life sucks.

  11. The Almighty RIS Says:

SWo it’s okay for black people to use the “n” word, but not anyone else, and how is that not racist? Freedom of speech means all speech, even if it hurts a bunch of pissed off black people’s feelings. Redd Foxx used to call white people honkies all the time, but noone can call black people niggers. Stop calling it the “n” word, that makes it out to be a horrible censored word (we are a free society right?). Black people, stop thinking you deserve some special treatment, you weren’t slaves, you’re great great grandpa was, and he’s dead. We are all slaves now, welcome to the machine

    THE ALMIGHTY RIS

  12. Todd Says:

What I dont understand is it is alright for Blacks to use the N word (nigger) to one another and to other people including whites but its not alright for whites to use it in there sentences, if you grew up in the south that word is used everyday by Blacks and Whites, and I amsure that the whole conversation was not played on YOUTUBE, I am sure that Tucker provoked Dog into saying what he did and did not give the whole converation to the National Enquirer just what he wanted the Blacks of the world to hear so that it would piss them off, whats this world coming too, all people make racial slurs about someone and I mean all people, no one is perfect, not even YOU!!!!!

  13. kay Says:

I am a fan of the show, but I don’t think Dog has any right to tell his grown son who he can date, and if the girlfriend loves Tucker and knows about the show and all that I’m sure she’s aware that they use the word and don’t mean it in a malicious way. I think if she truly cared about Tucker she would understand this and instead of pushing his son away Dog should change his habit, he turned his life around removing a word from his vocabulary shouldn’t be an issue. Also, I don’t think anyone should use the word it’s demeaning, disgusting and entirely inappropriate.

  14. cannon Says:

In an earlier post I stated that I am NOT a Dog fan. But..then I rambled on with some verbiage that was kinda like “I don’t agree with what you say but I will defend with my life your right to say it”. Well…here’s the deal. Damn it..Dog is a good guy.

He’s done a ton of stuff to help people from ALL walks of life. For Crissakes,,,,everyone spews out s–t when they’re talkin’ in private. I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE.

I would bet a million dollars that Al Sharpton, in private conversation with friends, has said “I don’t care what that honky mofo has to say” or something much akin to it. And you know what…SO WHAT, WHO CARES. As much of a s–t stirring pain in that balls that I thing Sharpton is..he does do one thing…he protects those whom he feels have been f—ed with. How can I fault that? He…like Dog.is a good guy.

  15. Amy Says:

It is quite obvious from your comments that not one person is educated or a Christian.

  16. Traci Says:

Okay, so it’s okay for Chris Rock, Richard Pryor and many more black comedians to use the term n—– in their routines. Is it okay because they themselves are black or because it’s used in a joke? Either way, cut DOG some slack. He used the word, big deal. If it’s okay for black people to walk up to their own kind and say, “What’s up my n—-a?” why shouldn’t white people be able to say it? It’s just a word. In the dictionary it says n—– was devised to mean of a debased, ignorant, or very low person. I take that to mean, ANY PERSON NO MATTER THE COLOR OR RACE!!! People need to get over it. He made a mistake in trusting his son who he has helped tremendously. I hope they don’t cancel his show, he has helped so many more people than he has harmed. Dog, you will persevere!!! Keep up the good work.

  17. Bart Says:

“What’s the big deal, blacks use the word n—- all the time.”

Yeah, but I don’t think they mean “f— scum n— without a soul” type person. Cause if you think a person is without a soul, youuu… don’t really mind finding out somebody lynched them to death, now do you?

Dog says he doesn’t mean the word like that, but I gotta say, you have to even KNOW the word can be used like that before you can start backing up and saying you don’t mean it like that.

    Know what I’m saying?

  18. trini Says:

I used to love Dog the Bounty Hunter but he is no better than Mel Gibson Or the rest of the KKK celebrities sorry to hear what he said.

  19. beth Says:

it doesnt matter what he said it was a private conversation. if we all had our praviate conversations recorded and published we would all be embarrassed. he shouldnt get charged for anything. its ok for black people to use the n word but as soon as a white person uses it its automatically a big deal. that conversation should of never got out his son has issues and needs to get some therapy because no matter how mad u are at ure parent you dont do that….

  20. jade Says:

Recorder or no recorder, Dog shouldn’t have used the N word in the first place. If his son’s African American girlfriend was such a threat to him and his career, why couldn’t he just talk to her like the well respected role model he is (or was) instead of talking behind her back? And by the way, someone defended him by saying he goes to church, with black people to boot!…so we shouldn’t be so hard on him, going to church doesn’t mean s___ if you’re still disrespecting OTHER people who don’t look like you!

  21. beth Says:

Everyone has some kind of racism in them and if you deny it… well then you have to be the one to live with a lie. Look at the good Dog has done by getting drugs and especially rapist’s off the street and the help he has given to so many. Look at what the blacks call the whites and other races, do we make a big stink about it and cost someone their livelihood? We are in a big fight with illegals right now. Sure the law is one thing but hey if your going to be here learn the flippin language.. ENGLISH! Is there racism there.. sure… Am I going to be plastered all over the paper… noooo. Blacks have every opportunity to go to school, learn and have a good life. It’s their choice to sell drugs, kill people and sing (not) songs that are full of hate towards white people. If whites did that… OMG it would be war! So lets get real here! I also think that the Enquirer stooped to the lowest of the low to actually pay big money for a tape like that to ruin someones life and career of a do-gooder. I think that is flat out hate in it’s self. We all backed him when Mexico came to extradite him after he went to Mexico to get one of the worst rapist’s out there. He made a mistake because this became public. He was in the privacy of his own home and his son did this solely for the purpose of money. Now that is sick! His son may also be in trouble himself. What about privacy laws? You can not record a conversation unless you tell that person that you are recording it. He said he uses the N word. Ok fine, for some it’s a figure of speech, it’s what they were taught to say. Does that make them a racist? No, it’s just poor judgment in speech.

  22. Terri Scott Says:

I am a huge fan of DOG and his family and I dont think his show should be cancelled because I feel he has done great things for the state of Hawaii and Colorado. Knowing DOG’s life story gives me hope for my oldest son. NOW with all that being said I am married to a black man and have 4 wonderful children. It did hurt me to hear DOG say N***** and to think that he is racist hurts even more. Do people say things out of anger yes and to say it out of anger is one thing but to admit that you say it on a regular basis is another. To be a real CHRISTIAN you can not have a racist bone in your body. and just because you go to church with black people means nothing!! And for the record DOG’s pastor Tim is not all black. and also for the record (BETH) as stated above white people also sell drugs, kill people and scream in their music. Everyone that makes comments on here please remember we all bleed red no matter the color and when we all stand at the pearly gates GOD does not see color why should we!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Terri Scott Says:

Also for the record Leland has a child that is mixed (not black) but never the less not all white either. I guess it’s ok as long as it not a black person right!!!! and his brother Tim is in a mixed marraige (not black) there again never the less not white and they have 2 children. I just dont understand. DOG MAN PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND ALL THIS CRAP MAN. VERY VERY SAD. I am a CHRISTIAN and I love everybody, so DOG man I forgive you cause thats what GOD wants me to do….

  24. christ almighty Says:

Seriously, fuck the writer of this article and any other dipshit that “thinks” Dog is such a good guy that’s getting a bum rap. Did any of you idiots actully “hear” what he said, or actually “read” what he said? I think you skipped over every aspect of these venom drenched words he spat out at his son, that showed nothing but disdain and contempt for what he calls a “nigger”. This wasn’t just some slip of the tongue, it’s a full on actual heart felt hate that this white trash trailer shit rag feels deep in his poser Native American heart.Again, fuck you Anthony!!!!!!!!

  25. christ almighty Says:

Oh yeah, by the way, I guess a rapist has no disdain or violent contempt towards women, he just rapes them, no big deal, give those guys a break too while you’re at it. And Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile, he just as a strong love for kids, lets get off his back also, fucking dumb asses!!! Only a person that feels the same way towards blacks could actually feel for him. I you are a racist, that’s fine, it is a free country. Just be that way full time and none of this half assed shit you fuckers like to pull.

  26. mary Says:

words are only words, and people give them power. And just because someone get’s angry or doesn’t like a person of a different race then them, doesn’t mean that they are angry or hateful of an entire race.

  27. hill Says:

that chic tucker was dating was setting dog up..he even said it in the tape..so she was out to get him in the first place. so i dont want to here it..

  28. Should We Accept Duane “Dog” Chapman’s Apology? Says:

[...]      For now, Cable network A&E has pulled Chapman’s television program from its schedule.  However, some have argued that Chapman has suffered enough.  For example, one blogger has asserted the following: [...]

  29. kbab Says:

Ive been reading all the comments the past few days and give me a break, all the racial slurs being tossed back at DOG just goes to show what anyone will say in a heated moment.Hes been called names that probably you wouldnt allow in print but take a check folks, lets face it when it all comes down to a showdown we all show our true colors.

  30. kbab Says:

Put him back on wer’e all human

  31. MAMA32 Says:

Well, as a fan and a “Black” fan. I wasn’t really offended by what Dog said. Just as previous messages has stated, “We have all said and done things in the privacy of our own homes.” But, does that make you a racist? I say not. What makes a person a racist is the contemptment in your heart. Unfortunately, I heard that in Dog’s voice. It wasn’t just the word n*****. It was in the content in which he used it. Like, “How you f*ck with one of them, ewww” If Lyysa did it we would be like “F*ck you!” Why????? He was going on like it was some sort of dirty secret that had to be covered.
With all of this being said…I do not feel that his show should be cancelled. Nor do I feel that outside of a public apology he should have to keep defending himself. He said he was sorry that’s it! Just like the guy from Gray’s Anatomy who called gays–fags! He said it–was fired and that was it. No special pass for the “black” man, either. If we punish one–we should punish all.
I am hurt by Dog but he’s human as we all are. IF you show me one person who has never thought or said a racial slur at any point of time in life–I will then show you a liar.

  32. Anne-Marie Says:

You know if you are a true Dog watcher you will know that he has used that comment before and no-one complained about it before. He does it out of angrue when he is chasing down the fugitive!!! It did not matter if the guy was white, black or even purple, he still used it but it’s notin the form of a racial slur, it just another way for him to say mother fucker!!!

I think people are just blowing this up because he is someone who is famous, why is it that we pick on people who are famous? Do you get mad at someone just walking down the street using that word? My guess is no, you’d get mad yes, but you would never confront the person that used the N-word. So, why is it that you people think you have the right to pick on the Dog!!!!

I myself think it’s a personal phone between Tucker and the Dog, and that the way it should have been. Dog was trying to help his son walk a straight line. He heard that the woman that he was dating is not the best influence on Tucker, so being a dad first he told Tucker what he thought. It was not on the show, so why is it in the tabloid?

  33. MAMA32 Says:

HAVE YOU ALL FORGOTTEN THAT IT WAS HIS “SON” THAT SOLD HIM OUT TO THE TABLOIDS? IF YOU’RE GONNA MAKE AN OBSERVATION ABOUT HOW “US PEOPLE” OR “THOSE PEOPLE” ARE JUST MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT—OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE OTHER NON WHITE AMERICANS THAT ARE OFFENDED OTHERWISE THIS WOULD NOT EVEN BE AN ISSUE OR EVEN POSTED FOR COMMENT ON SOMEONE’S BLOG–GET A CLUE!!!

  34. kbab Says:

Listen up all you DOG fans out there; since DOG is now getting sued by tuckers girlfriend, the only way we can help him out is to go to his website and buy up his stuff. Hes going to need money and a good lawyer. SO PLEASE HELP and whatever you do, Do not buy it from A&E

  35. kbab Says:

I truly commend MAMA 32 for she is truly a rational Afro-American.

  36. kbab Says:

How do you choose your race to to stated MAMA 32. I was just chastised for saying afro-american or are you even black, sorry

  37. todaysreality Says:

welcome to the year 2007, 2008 in a few weeks, leap year next year also, today, the news makes a mockery of the feelings of others, if you dont feel like the news person your watching, then you must be wrong, wake up america, sticks and stones kinda stuff, if you dont have skin that can withstand stupid words, then go into a cave and hide, maybe most of us intelligent people wont be here when you come out, but if some comment made by his father , to his son, ruins his dad lively hood, then maybe all the people that understand todays bulls%it should go reserve a cave, before they are all taken

  38. Jean Says:

Ok yes the man used the n word he shouldn’t have but this was a private conversation taped (ilegally) and sold for money. I am sorry to the black people out there whom get offended by the use of that word. But here is something I will clue you the black reader in on. I live in the south and when I hear that word used by other white people it is usually to define a person of low class and low integrity. It has nothing to do with slavery just how one carries oneself and you shouldn’t be offended by it. I have black friends and even I have heard them call their own that word in my presence and I agreed with their statement. Those of you who say oh it’s racist I believe in the dictionary it states that it describes any person or any color. This whole thing was blown up and taken out of context and it’s called the media!!!!! I was born white I had nothing to do with that or the slavery or even what happened in the 60’s. We are all products of our upbringing and Dog was probably exposed to that line of thinking and grew up believeing it was right. What happened to forgiveness in this country we are suppose to hang this man for a private conversation!!!!?????? I am sorry but all’s I can say is no, I will pray the man finds it in his heart that the n word was wrong and that he makes his peace with it. If your offended by what I write last time I checked THIS IS AMERICA and it’s called freedom of speech whatever that speech may be

  39. kbab Says:

On another sight I was posting about how Al Sharpton makes black people look bad.A black person came back to me. All I get back is the excuase he doesnt stand for me. Two more times he comes back with excuses. So what Im saying is black people want to use that excuse and just drop it. If they were serious, why dont they get together and send him a message to step down and if not march. They did it once before but on the other hand it makes me wonder if he is so unimportant why do all white people have to crawl on their bellies and ask his forgivness?

  40. Lee-Anne Says:

when I heard about dogs problem I almost got sick to my stomich I would help him with his money problem if I could I don’t know how he will get out of it I hope he does with christmas and all

Dog and the chapman family I hope u take care and I will be parying for u guys.

  41. Vince Says:

Reading over the previous comments, I have noticed that most of you are rational people. I just thought I would make a comment as well. First let me say that I don’t think Dog is racist. In his line of work, he probably hears nigger all the time and it has become engrained in his vocabulary. He said it in a heated conversation with his son and it should therefore not be held against him in any way. Second thing I would like to say is that A&E is run by gutless hypocritical cowards for pulling his show. I have asked all the execs to come forward with their private conversations and give public apologies and wait for the public to judge them. Surprisingly, none of them have taken me up on my offer. I would offer the same challenge to anyone who is ready to condemn Dog. If you are not ready to take this challenge then you really need to sit down and be quiet. I issue this challenge to everyone (black, white, red, whoever). Third, I think it is pothetic that people are so thin skinned that a six letter word gets them so tore up. I have been called every name out there (honkey, cracker, etc) by black people and not once has it ever bothered me. They are just words. So is the word nigger. Fourth, I need to say that no white person alive in the US today every owned any slaves and no black person alive today in the US is a slave. This is an excuse that should have died a long time ago. If Less time needs to be spent whining about how the white man is keeping you down and more time spent trying to make things better for yourself.

Bring back Dog and our privacy.

  42. kbab Says:

Thank you Vince, I could not have said it better.

  43. kbab Says:

Any of you wanting to get a lowdown on moniques character need to go to google and type in “the real story of monique and tucker and their attack on dog” Sure wouldnt want her teaching my kids…………………….

  44. kbab Says:

Please visit that page and see how you can help see that the media hears about this.

  45. ronnie white Says:

I am from the deep south, just miles from where all the racial stuff originated and grew to rage.
I know that everyone down here, especially those dogs age, have an understanding. There are black people and there are N****s. There are white people and then white trash. These are qualified by the way you act and conduct yourself every day. I would say that 95 percent of all white people in the south have best friends that are black, and like and respect them. I know that my vice president and life long friend and his family are black folks. However, if you have ever seen a true gang banging southern black guy, that plays that nasty F word music with their windows down, with their hand down on their penis at all times, you will know and feel what we meen by the word N***R. That is exactly what Dog was referring to when he was calling this lady that. He is no racist, as that word , at least in the south, qualifies them to be a N***R. The same is with the white trash, driving drunk, yelling the N word, and disgracing their race. This is so very common in the south. Even ny best friend and vice president uses the N word to qualify those who discgrace their race. In prison, dog has seen and been a victim of the ways of the N****. You never forget it, and he was probably right for calling her that if she did the things they said she did. However, he is no racist whatsoever, as all you have to do is reveal his past ways with his day to day life. You will see he has best friends that are black, and has helped hundreds of them in trouble. If he was a true racist, he would do them like the southern white trash does the true N****. They just disappear……That is sad. But, that is identically the way it is here. i think the black race is an outstanding credit to society, and that who dog was calling that word was deserving under the definition used where racism started.

  46. MAMA32 Says:

First of all, Ronnie White is a true example of how logic and reason should play in this ordeal dealing with DOG. Having been raised with a military background, I have seen racism in almost every city that I have lived in. I was born Hawaii and was taught by my family’s Hawaiian friends, co-workers, etc… about all the slang that they have called whites. For an example,”Howdy” which holds the same resentment as “n*gger” in the Hawiian World. I have also attended High School in South Carolina. As stated by Ronnie, most southerners have friends of a different race. We go to school together, work together and some even go to church together. However, race-mixing on a dating level is somewhat still bothersome. “Stick with your kind” It’s like you can love your friend but not be in love with your friend. Most of them (southerners) say it is because these “mixed babies” are unlike anyone and are bringing awareness to a lifestyle where they have been taught was just not acceptable. I said that to say…maybe Dog came from the same fabric of life. He did not mind his son with the girl so much as he did with him dating her or putting her in his “personal business.” I know it sounds crazy but I see it everyday in the South. Dog is just being himself. He was probably reared hearing that word on a daily basis. And the life he lead before Bounty Hunting also introduced him to a less than acceptable behavior and terminology. He probaby hung with as many blacks as he did whites and the word “n*gger” was just another word to say “F*ck-you/her.” And a little lesson in slang for nonwhites: There is a big difference in saying “N*gger” and “N*gga” Dog should have been taught this if he was cool or down with the blacks like he had claimed. “N*gger” with the ER is meant to degrade or discibe a dislike for a person/situation. “N*gga” with the A is meant to show luv for a close aquaintance or friend. It’s like saying we share the same struggles in life and I understand.
Finally, I want to address one last thing…….to Vince-I don’t believe that blacks are anyone are so dumb to believe that the whites that owned slavery in the 1800s are still alive unless they are dinosaures. However, those founding fathers that have died have however left seeds planted in the minds of many of our priviliged whites today and that is called “racism” You see, racism was not born the moment Dog said the “N” word. It has been living, breathing in our society for decades. And although blacks are not locked in schackles doesn’t mean that are not imprisioned like many non white Americans. We are slaves to the system, to racial profiling and a palethora of other things. So for you to dismissed that fact..I find it appauling. Our Country’s history is based around slavery of so many types-so read your books and do your homework.
P.S. Kbab…I am a black female. Some blacks perfer to be called black while other want to be known as African-American. When in doubt just ask. I believe you will get a better response and you would then come across as a person who respects other wishes.

Good afternoon Mama32. I do not feel that I am dismissing anything. I can honestly say that in the area where I’m from most of the discriminating is against the while male. Employers are often forced to hire a less qualified candidate because they are black. Is this equality? No. Based on my experiences thus far in life, I do not see the black person seeking equality. I see him/see trying to be superior. We do not have our own television station (White Entertainment Television would cause the largest riot in history). I also do not know about any White College Fund. From what I have seen, the black people have a lot more opportunities than the white people. Also, can you tell me why black comedians can use honkey, whitey, etc? and America laughs, but a white man says this word and all he** breaks loose? Is this not racism toward white people? I think it is. You are right in that we have a long way to go until we reach true equality, but in order to get there, the racism toward white people is going to have to stop as well.

    Dear Vince~
Although I respect your opinions I do believe that I have been mis quoted. I did not once say that racism or reversed racism is not present in many situations. For me to stand by that fact would be an utter contradiction. I’m not sure what part of the south you are from where and I can’t speak about black people as a whole because I am only qualified and educated to speak first from my own experiences. First, as a educated black female in an highly professional setting, I can say that I have been told my my white peers/co-workers that I have been passed up for many positions because I do not have the “complexion protection.” I have been in my work place for over 10 years and I currently hold 2 Masters but I have seen little girls coming out of USC with little to no work experience become my supervisor with only a Bachelor’s degree. I seek equality everyday. I have a half white grandmother and white great-grandfather who has been disowned by family members because the chose to marry outside of their races. I am a active volunteer in many organizations and we (both white and blacks) have agreed that the priviliges for nonwhites and whites are indeed DIFFERENT. So to say that we or myself aren’t fighting for equality is only an oversight, I am sure. And as far as having “White Entertainment.” Let’s see….we have CBS..ABC…etc..that have starred and feature white sitcoms for decades. Not to mention that it wasn’t that long ago that blacks when casted for a role where only given parts of Mammies and Maids. And the aged old “Black Faced” ironies featured on many networks have proven that blacks or any other races had very stero-typed roles in Movies, film and television. Most of the major professional athletic teams are owned by who???? You know the answer. And although you have films that feature all Black cast members and writers such as “The Color Purple” but who produced or directed this film? Steven S. And the white college funds…I’m sorry I have to laugh…when is the last time you have seen any major colleges (Harvard, NYU, etc..) sending recrutes out to low-income, poverty stricken neighborhoods offering non-blacks scholarships? I put myself through college, I too did not qualify for any negro college funds. And if you check your facts, these programs are not designed for just blacks it was merely founded by them. It is designed for anyone of “color” (hispanics, indians, etc) that were not fortunate enough to have someone send them to college. If you do not think that there are not college funds geared toward white students then I earge you go to your nearest library or even the internet and do your research. I challenge you to find 10 schools that are recruiting any poor little black, hispanic kids. And…my husband who is hispanic did recieve a scholarship from the United Negro Funds to complete his studies at NYU.I have never tried to be superior to anyone besides myself. I have tried to compete in a world that judges me on a fact that I can’t change nor do anything about…my skin color. And as far as all these opporunities…if you know of any fortune 500 companies looking for a black woman with a paletha of degrees please call me. Cause my resume has been on blast for over 10 years. like I said before….there is indeed reverse racism. I am not ignorant to that fact. Dog should not be anymore condemned than any other person ( I have stated that previously). I personally think this issue has gotten way out of hand. We should be focusing on more important issues like the next election-perhaps? Or maybe the fact that rape crimes have tripled in last 5 years? I don’t know-you be the judge.

  51. Vince Says:

    Mama32,
Good morning. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. A lot of our opinions are based on our own experiences. Like yourself, I can not speak for everyone, only what I have seen. Please understand that my comments are not directed toward the entire black society. There are good people and bad people in all races. I just happen to have seen a lot of racism toward the white society, while you have seen the reverse. I have seen the racism card attempted 90% of the time a black person I am with does not get the best service in a restaurant or is turned down for a job. I feel I should state that I do have black friends. Some of my best co-workers are black people. There are some black co-workers that I do not like. There are also some white co-workers I do not like. The black people that I do like are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. My experience has been that the black people who are striving for true equality and do not try to use the racism bit to get they want are good people and seem to get further than the ones who scream racism all the time. They are also better liked among all their peers (white, black, etc.) I personally do not look at a person’s skin color. I judge the person based on their actions, abilities, etc. and quite honestly it get me hot under the coller when someone screams racism if they do not get what they want instead of accepting that the other person was better qualified or that service in that particular restaurant was bad for everyone. This applies to all races, but I personally have seen the racism card played by more blacks. America still has a long way to go. I strongly agree that we need to focus on other issues like the war and people starving in the streets. When isssues like these become the priority, then maybe we can achieve true equality. From your comments, you seem like an intelligent, level headed person and I look forward to your reply.

  52. MAMA32 Says:

    Vince~
Have you ever heard the saying, “It’s better to observe a situation when you are not involved in the situation?” In other words it’s better to judge a situation when you are not emotionally attached to the outcome. I am not surprise that you feel blacks play the race card. Why? Because you are not black. Just like I can see where my opportunities are limited because I am. That’s like me saying Athletes are being over paid when I don’t have the slightest idea about what it takes to train, prepare or even play a professional sport. How can someone put value or opinion on someone’s eles’s +struggle without sharing the experience themselves. I believe if you were married or dating a black woman and if you truly were in love with her….if you even hear of someone offending her you would also be quick to defend her if she had been hurt. Just because when you care about someone you don’t want to see them hurt no matter if they are right or wrong. You have several rapist, murderers, etc.. in our prisons today that have pleaded guilty and their mother’s still love them and some in their innocense. And then you may ask, “How could you love someone that has done so many terrible things?” I believe their answer would be…because he’s my son no matter what. That’s kind of how I believe nonwhites are when it comes to being truly honest about the race problem in the U.S. You know when you are sitting at your dinner tables and that “n*gger” joke was told-you laughed. Why? Because it was funny. Despite the knowing that it would offend blacks. But, hell nobody’s there so it’s okay. Equally, if one of your family members were caught saying the joke in public and were called a racist-it is a natural instinct for you to defend and protect them. And even speak on their behalf and say, “He’s not a racist because he told a joke.” Just because you are blessed to have friends of different colors doesn’t mean that you share a brotherhood with them. When was the last time you ate dinner with your “black friends/co-workers?” When was the last time you donated any money to any inner city, poverty stricken neighborhoods. Be honest. Now, I have a family of blacks, whites, hispanic, and even indian. I have more non black friends than I do black friends. I purposely seek out schools for my sons that are integrated. I am sure there are a lot of great (black) schools but I don’t want them to have one perspective of life but many. So the day someone approaches them and say…”How could you speak on this matter about such & such…” He would be able to say, I may not be white, hispanic, asian, etc….but my best friend is…my neighbor is…..or even my wife is….so I may not share your struggles but I can share your story.

  54. Vince Says:

    Mama32,
You are correct in that I don’t share a brotherhood with the friends I have of different colors. Never said I did. My argument was simply that based on what I have seen, the black people who are willing to try to be equals seem to have more opportunites (higher paying positions, more friends, etc) than those who play the race card. The people I was talking about in my previous posts are the ones who seem to want to draw attention to the fact that they are black. Kind of a “Do you know what color I am” attitude. These seem to be the people that do not obtain the high positions, etc. I must be honest. If I hear “Didn’t get it because I’m black” any more I’m probably going to scream. This has become a crutch for a lot of black people. Somebody had told them something similar at one time and it has become their out for everything. I am not saying all black people are like this. That just appears to be the attitude of most of the black people I know or have known. I would have no issues whatsoever with having dinner with a black person or an asian person or any person as long as that person was a decent person and didn’t scream racism at the drop of a hat. I also do not associate with white peope who would be considered trash. Like I said earlier, character is how I judge people. As far as donating, I must admit that I don’t donate to much. I came from a poor area and while I wasn’t the poorest kid at school, I was near the bottom. I managed to overcome this and have done OK for myself as I feel anybody can. I will agree that in some areas of the country black people may have more obstacles to overcome, but in my experience, the more obstacles I had to overcome, the more determined and stronger it made me. It sounds like you have done OK for youself as well. My bottom line is this, anyone can do anything they want to in this country. I had many obstacle to overcome because of my background (always put down at school, worked 2 jobs to pay for college, etc). but I was determined not to let obstacles stop me. Eveyone needs to stop whining about the situation they are in and go change it.
