For those of you who frequent Windward Mall in Kaneohe, make sure you pass by the food court and get yourself something from Blazin’ Steaks. This past weekend, we headed down to Windward Mall just to get out of the rain, and when we got hungry, we went to the food court. They had a variety of foods, but the longest line was at this place called Blazin’ Steaks. So what made it so popular?
Basically, it’s a plate lunch place that serves steaks, chicken, and fish grilled to order. For a mere $6, you can get an 8oz steak seasoned, grilled, and sliced, or chicken, or even opakapaka fish. And if you are really hungry, you can get a 10oz portion of steak for only $10. The plate lunches also include salad with your choice of ranch, thousand island, or italian dressing. They also include rice with your order. And if that wasn’t enough, they also threw in a drink too! What a deal.
I ended up ordering the 8oz steak plate. They give you a generous portion of salad and two scoops of rice with my purchase. The steak tasted great and was very tender. The only downside was that it wasn’t fresh off the grill. Instead, since there were so many people there, they would cook up the steaks first and then put it in a heated container and pulled out the desired amount when a steak plate was ordered. Nevertheless, the steak was very flavorful and much more tender than I thought. I put A1 all over my steaks and even put some Korean BBQ sauce over my rice. And for $6, it was a bargain.
My girlfriend got the opakapaka with the Korean BBQ sauce. For the fish and chicken plates, you can have your variety of sauces, including Korean BBQ, Thai peanut, or just plain hibachi. The fish was very tender and even included the skin. It didn’t taste like it was frozen, so that was pretty good. The only thing I could gripe about was that it took 15 minutes if you ordered any fish plate. Then again, at least the fish wasn’t already cooked and just reheated, so in that case, I guess the 15 minutes is worth the wait for the freshly grilled taste.
So if you’re strapped for cash and want some very flavorful food while strolling Windward Mall, make sure you head down to Blazin’ Steaks. You won’t be disappointed!

Blazin’ Steaks at Windward Mall is good if you like being served by rude and immature young people who hate their job.

This Blazin’ Steaks is UNSATISFYING. The employees are UNSANITARY, disorganized, and slow workers with a bad attitude. They are unsanitary due to the residue, on the bottom of the container that they use to serve their steak, that has probably been there for several hours; and ALL the girls are wearing tank tops which is inappropriate for ANY food industry…it is VERY poor hygiene; not to mention their hair is not secured tightly, so hair ends up in the rice and sometimes the meat. I DO NOT recommend this Blazin’ Steaks. They are disorganized because the employees don’t know exactly what their co-workers are doing; many of them do not know the difference between “medium rare” and “medium”. They walk around aimlessly most of the time, and often times take orders twice because they don’t know who or IF any body else took your order; and all of this confusion makes their work slow and THAT creates the long line that everybody sees.

We waited over an hour, no one came to refill our drinks, they gave our food away (so they say), we left hungry and tired from waiting. Extremely bad service. With Ihop, the wait wasn’t as long but the food (besides the pancakes) were absolutely horrible…the steak was cold and was NOT a t-bone and the bbq ribs were so salty and horrible. The best place in Windward Mall, time after time, is Ruby Tuesdays…great service, great food.

Great recipe. If you like you can add it to Garlicoon, the Food & Wine network.

Blazin Steaks is in Kapolei now. The food is totally awesome & the people that work there are friendly. The portions are big, the food is fresh and good. The opakapaka fish is excellent, especially with the Korean sauce. The hibachi chicken was really good and the steak was excellent - totally tender. No cheap lettuce in their salad, either. With meat, salad, rice and a drink, it is a bargain! If they took that meal out of the container and put it on a fancy plate, it could be served at a restaurant like Roy’s. Kapolei restaurant highly recommended!

Are you serious?! This so-called “restaurant” will never make it past 6 months. Talk about faking the funk! I don’t know exactly who you positve review people are, but I would bet “y’all” are part owners or have close relations to them!! Reviews that off mark has to be clever damage control at it’s best!!!!!!! After inhaling the cute portion of un-seasoned steak & soggy layer of salad, I felt violated by the shockingly unappetizing crew & limited hoice of beverage. And a friendly fyi for management: your $6 PLATES, have somehow inflated to $10 out in Sunny Kapolei! (payable by cash only & no receipt available on top of it!) Really, you better ask somebody! DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After inhaling the cute portion of un-seasoned, leathery steak & soggy layer of salad, I felt violated by the shockingly unappetizing crew & limited choice of beverage. I haven’t been to the Blazin’ Steaks in Windward or Kapolei yet, but I’d highly recommend the one in Kalihi, near farrington HS… it isn’t the friendliest place on earth, nor the most “sanitary” but you get a pretty good steak plate for just 6 bucks! And it includes a small drink! Try getting that at Zippys! =) I don’t know about the other two locations, but before you assume ALL Blazin’ Steaks are crap, check out the one in Kalihi- I’ve had a good experience with them.

What type of steak do they use?
