Rain Got You Down, Looking for Something to Do On Oahu

The weather in the islands has been horrible for the past few days. Rain, wind, more rain, more wind, and not much in the way of the usual outdoor activities to enjoy. So what do you do?

Some of you may remember our last post almost two years ago about things to do on Oahu when it rains. There’s a ton out there, but in that list we picked ten fun things we thought both locals and tourists would enjoy. With all this rain lately, you may need to go check out that list to remind yourself that there really are some more things to do around the islands than play in the water under the sun, etc.

For this list I’d like to shift gears towards those people who might be go go going all the time and rather than needing to go go go but indoors, use this time to actually relax. Think of the rain and windy time as a time to not be on the go.

1. Read a book, or at least start to read a book. You may only get half way through but maybe it’ll be a great book about things to do in Hawaii so you’ll be ready for some new fun activities when the rain subsides.

2. Watch some movies. Pick out some trilogies that you never were able to watch like, “Lord of the Rings,” “The Matrix,” “Rocky” (ok there was like 20 of those), “Star Wars” or may you want to watch one my favorite make shift trilogies, The Endless Summer 1 and 2 and Blue Crush. Really it should be a box set.

3. Write a note to someone on the mainland telling them that it’s not always sunny here in Hawaii and you just wanted to let them know they didn’t have to be jealous all the time.

4. Paint, I don’t do this, but I hear it’s relaxing. Paint yourself in a Hawaii Landscape doing something fun.

5. Sleep, get some rest. If you’re looking for more things to do while it’s raining maybe you need to take it easy finally.
