Wow. That pretty much sums up what happened when I saw the news last night about a flight on go! Airlines from Honolulu to the Big Island last Wednesday. The airplane actually passed the Hilo airport for about 15 miles before it came back and landed. Air traffic controllers tried to contact the plane for 25 minutes, but they didn’t receive any response.
So what were the pilots doing? One scenerio was that both pilots were asleep during the flight. If this is the case, all I can say is WOW. How can they be so careless? Not only that, but the flight is relatively short, and it was a 10am flight. The plane was still in autopilot when they passed the airport, but just the fact that the pilots neglected the passengers they were carrying is just not excusable.
The Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, has opened up an investigation into this flight. I don’t want to make any assumptions, but I would like to see why the pilots didn’t land when they were supposed to.
Stay tuned…
