Yeah, if you are me and countless others who live here in Hawaii, that must be pretty hard to believe right? Cruising through KGMB’s website (www.kgmb.com), I came across an article that was talking about how Hawaii’s residents’ income grew this past year. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, the personal income of Hawaii residents grew 6% over 2007, versus nationwide of 6.2%.
THEN, I looked at the average personal income Hawaii residents make, which ended up being $39,000. Yeah, that’s about right. And like I’ve said countless times before in previous articles, how the heck do we make a living sometimes making less than that average and living in a place where everything is just way to expensive? It’s almost as if Hawaii is just a place for the tourists to buy everything, and for the residents to just watch them walk around with enormously large Louis Vuitton bags while we are walking with our Longs bag full with one toothbrush.
Darn, the price to pay for living in paradise eh?
