For those of you waiting to complete your United States Quarter set wait no longer! The Hawaii state quarter, the last of the set, was released Monday to the public.
The quarter shows King Kamehameha I on one side with the state motto “UA MAU KE EA O KA AINA I KA PONO” or “The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.” The quarter, although came under some controversy with some groups not wanting the great King on the quarter was voted into circulation by the majority of people in the state.
You could have been one of the many many people that stood in line at Bishop Sqaure to trade in their $10 bills for a roll of brand new quarters. The quarters are officially in circulation and if you live in Hawaii should be able to get one soon.
The design was created by engraver Don Everhart of the US Mint.
