Over the course of three seasons as the UH Warriors Mens head basketball coach Bob Nash 34-56. This included the current season in which the team went 10-20 in regular season play and 3-13 in conference play coming in last place in the WAC conference.
Nash, who had one year left on his contract and will get paid the final $240,000 was let go for “business reasons” says athletic director Jim Donovan. Although details of the business reasons were left out, it has become noticeable at home games that the stands are quite empty. It would appear that a turnaround was needed.
Nash had his obstacles to overcome. Travel to the mainland to play constantly wears on players, but even more so, recruiting difficulties have been the biggest roadblock to better teams and winning seasons. It’s tough to get players to come Hawaii, with limited exposure and the grind of travel to play a long season schedule.
Hopefully the next coach brings some clout to recruit and overcome these challenges.
