About 10 years ago, my friend Corinne told me about Honey Girl bathing suits that her friend Louisa a body boarder friend of hers made. She said they were cute suits that didn’t come off when you surf. I bought my first Honey Girl bathing suit shortly after that and have been wearing Honey Girl bathing suits ever since.

Creator and owner of Honey Girl Water Wear is local girl Louisa Ngum who grew up on a boat in Waikiki and in 1997 she started her bathing suit line. She had always dreamt of a bathing suit that would stay on in the surf with her goal to “make beautiful, most functional, and best quality swimwear for all female-kind.” Over the years she has perfected her fabrics, cuts, styles, and even expanded into children’s swimwear and cover-ups.
For active water women like myself we require something more substantial. Honey Girl suits use tough fabrics and they can be adjusted to tighten up before you paddle out. Surfer girls all know we need tight fitting suits when maneuvering through the surf. If not, we can be caught mooning and flashing our fellow surfers. These suits also last through wear after wear. Some of my suits have lasted for years even after going to the beach 3-4 times a week.
Over the years I have scouted out stores that carried Honey Girl suits. Splash! Hawaii, Island Paddler, and Surf N Sea are some of the stores on Oahu with the largest selection of Honey Girl suits. Honey Girl and Little Honeys official store is located in Kauai Anchor Cove Shopping Center in Lihue, located at 3416 Rice Street.
