O’Neill World Cup of Surfing Still OFF Due to Small Surf

O'Neill World Cup Lay DayThe Vans Triple Crown of Surfing observed the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and since then the contest has been OFF due to small surf.  Today, Sunday November 28, 2010 the waves at Sunset Beach are the smallest it has been in the last couple days at flat to 2 foot (faces).

A new NNW-north swell is expected to start filling in Tuesday night the 30th.  By Wednesday mid-day the swell is expected to be chest high around 4-5 foot and build through Thursday, but not more than overhead wave heights.

The forecasters are also watching another system that could possiblly arrive on Friday Decemeber 3-5th.  This N-NE swell is predicted to be overhead, possibly 5-9 feet on Friday.  Sunset Beach does best on a NW swell, so this predicted NE swell maybe not reach expected heights at Sunset.

As the days move on, officials and forecasters will have a better idea when the contest will run.  The final day of the O’Neill World Cup holding period is December 6th.  For contest details visit Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
