Today, February 16, 2011 is Day 2 of the ASP Men’s Prime Hang Loose Pro in Cacimba Do Padre, Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco/Brazil. Yesterday at 1:30 pm was the start of the contest in improving surf. Today is a full day of competition and the waves are 3-6 foot (faces) with light winds and offshore conditions.
Brazilians dominate the rooster for the Hang Loose Pro, but 6 Hawaiians are there representing: Granger Larsen, Fredrick Patacchia, Kai Barger, Mason Ho, Tonino Benson, and Kiron Jabour.
The stand out in Day 1 was Japanese surfer Masatoshi Ohno’s first tube ride of the day and also winning the heat over the event’s top seed, Adriano de Souza (BRA).
