Michelle Wie is picking up right where she left off last year. Although she dropped out of her last event of that season she did manage to pick up a win at the Canadian Open and then a second place finish.
Now, to start the season in Thailand on the first LPGA event of the year, Michelle Wie is showing that it wasn’t a fluke. Yani Tseng and Michelle Wie are one stroke back of the leader, South Korean In-Kyung Kim.
Wie was able to better her first round 69 by shooting a second round 68 to head into tomorrow 7 under. Kim on the other hand scored a one over 73 after rocking the course with a 9 under 63 the day before.
This looks like it will bode well for Michelle Wie and the world number 1, Tseng, as they are both heading into the weekend playing strong consistent golf. We’ll just have to wait and see if the 22 year-old Kim can bounce back from a disappointing second round.
Rain and soggy conditions may have played a role in Kim’s round, the forecast looks a little better for the next two rounds but you just never know what can happen in that climate.
