The conditions on the North Shore of Oahu aren’t always conducive to sailing boats under 18 feet. My friend Willy has figured out a way to make the sailing trip a bit drier and a lot less time consuming by building a motor mount for his 16 foot sailboat. On a recent boat trip with Captain Willy we used the strong tradewinds to blow us from Velzyland to Haleiwa, then cranked up the motor and cruised back home.
On the sailing trip we tried our luck at fishing and even pulled in two fish. One fish was caught just offshore from Rockpiles on the sail downwind. The other fish was caught as we motored past Alligators. We decided not too keep the fish after all and released them back to sea.
As the sun set, the moon was already up and in position and helped light our way home. The pictures below tell more of the story and if you know what kind of fish we caught please post a comment.
