Yoga Loft Hawaii, New Studio in Waipio

A friend of mine just opened a new yoga studio, Yoga Loft Hawaii, in Waipio and my intuition was telling me to go to a class. I was nursing a back injury from a combination of a surf and hiking related injury and felt that some light stretching would loosen things up. I was stoked to hear that the first class is free for anyone who comes. The classical hatha class taught by Zeny fit right into my schedule. Classical hatha is appropriate for all levels with a focus on the fundamental poses of yoga, with emphasis on breathing and meditation.

The Yoga Loft studio had a nice energy and the class was just what I needed. Zeny was a great instructor and not only led with a smooth fluidity, but gave extra tips on how to sink deeper into the poses. She also shared her experiences from past yoga teachers, which helped me understand the purpose of some of the poses.

Throughout the class I didn’t work up a sweat, but the inside of my body felt warm and loose. I slid right into Chavasana (meditation at the end of the class) and awoke from my dreamy state feeling extremely relaxed. My back pains were subdued and I walked away feeling a ‘Yoga Buzz’.

Yoga Loft Hawaii is the first centrally located yoga studio on Oahu, owned and operated by Lisa Sochocki. They offer a wide range of classes for all skill levels, shapes, and sizes. You can find classes that are physically challenging and provide an incredible work out through strengthening and increased flexibility, and you can also find classes that gently help you heal like classical hatha yoga. They want the community to know that you don’t have to be able to touch your toes to do yoga, everyone can enjoy it!

“When we come together and practice yoga, what happens is our mind with all of its baggage and chatter is given the opportunity to stop thinking and just be. It is when we are enriched in the present moment, and when we are conscious of our breath, we are then our true nature, and I trust that our true nature is all inherently good, blissful and beautiful,” states Lisa Sochocki. Lisa is a passionate and dedicated yogi whose goal is to spread yoga love into the community.

You can find out the class schedule of Yoga Loft Hawaii on their website. They are located off Ka Uka Blvd on Ukee Street in the Waipio Industrial Court, make your first left off Kamehemeha Hwy or your last right off Ka Uka Blvd. if you are coming from the H2.
