For all you professional camera phone photographers out there, Haleiwa’s Guava Shop and FreeSurf magazine are both currently holding photo contests on Facebook and Instagram!
First up, Guava Shop, the cutest boutique on the North Shore, is giving away $200 to the winner of their Facebook contest, as well as $50 to two runners up. The rules are pretty simply – you simply need to take a picture that stars their hat. The logo needs to be clearly shown, and other than that, the scenery is up to you.
You then need to post it on your Facebook and tag both Guava(Facebook.com/guava.shop) and yourself (they’re announcing the winner via Facebook, so that part’s important) and add a caption if you want. You can still enter if you don’t have Facebook; just email the picture to [email protected] Pictures need to be in by June 9th to be considered, but you can post as many as you want! Just remember, Guava’s a family shop, so no profanity or nudity. Winners will be announced on Saturday, June 16th.

Next up, FreeSurf magazine is holding a summer-long Instagram contest. They’re looking for your best summer surf pics and giving away HIC board shorts or a Roxy bikini (winner’s choice) as well as publishing the winner in the mag. Just post your photo to Instagram, use the hashtag #summerswells and tag @freesurfmag to enter.
