When the east swell is pumping, the “Pool Bar” at Turtle Bay Resort pulls in some nice summer time waves. On Wednesday, June 20th, International Surf Day, I found just that. The conditions at the Pool Bar were nice as the hotel blocks most of the wind and chop.
After a morning of work doing Shaka Kayak Tours, I saw something breaking and paddled out with my friend Sian. Hans Hedeman Surf School was out and it provided us with some extra entertainment.
There’s nothing like seeing the stoke of someone ride a wave for the first time and on the other end of the spectrum…it’s pretty hilarious watching people go over the falls too. At the end of the day, it was nice to get a goofy surf in with a friend and share a beautiful day on the water.
