Gas Prices Below $3 For Hawaii

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

You read it right, for the first time in almost a year, the price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell below $3 for some Hawaii residents. The statewide average is $3.13 with Costco on the Big Island coming in the cheapest at $2.62.

On the island of Oahu you can find gas under $2.97 all over the place as all of the Aloha Gas stations on the windward side have dropped their gas to that price. In town, same story. Gas under $3 is popping up all over the place.

Does that mean you should run out and fill up? Maybe. Or at least a little bit. But gas prices are falling all around the nation as some states have ventured into the realm of regular unleaded gasoline at under $2 a gallon. The current national average is $2.28 with some states reporting an average of $2.05.

This is welcome relief to a lot of car owners on Oahu.

Pflueger Honda Moved and Much Better!

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Not to sound rude, but I am not a fan of the old Pflueger Honda, which used to be located on Ala Moana Blvd. Why you ask? The salespeople were like vultures, and once you drive in, there are 3-4 people already walking up to you. Talk about stress. And once you even look at a car, they were ready to sit you down, find out your financial situation, and sell it to you that day. I hated it, and really, did not experience such pressure from any other car dealership but there (and a Mazda dealership in Waipahu now that I come to think of it). Then I heard a commercial on the radio that they moved, and that the owner of Pflueger Honda said that they salespeople will treat you like family and offer no pressure when purchasing a car. “Yeah riiiiight” I initially thought. So I decided to stop by for a visit.

Since my brother just picked up a S2000, he needed to get some touchup paint. I stopped by the new showroom at 188 S. Beretania St., underneath the new condominium Capitol Place in downtown. Wow, was I impressed. Not only was the showroom really nice and clean, but the staff never once came up to me and asked if I eeded help. Not until I stepped into a new Accord coupe did a salesperson ask if I needed any help, and when I said no, he smiled and politely walked away. WHAT A CHANGE! I felt like I was at Honda Windward (whom I would recommend to everyone).

They even had a nice coffee machine that gave your FREE coffee. The showroom was also nice and updated as well. What a nice change. Would I consider going here? Depends. They do charge a rather high “market adjustment value” which I am totally against, and it usually is difficult to knock down those prices. Then again, I would just use Costco to purchase my cars (which has worked for the past 2 cars we own). At least I would consider Pflueger Honda now, when previously, it would be the last place I would shop for a Honda.
