Dog the Bounty Hunter BACK ON AIR!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

You can forgive him or not, but Dog has been through a lot of turmoil as of late, with is show threatened to be cancelled indefinitely. Well, everthing has been cleared up, and A&E decided to film a new season of Dog the Bounty Hunter, which debuted last night! I caught it by chance at 6pm last night (with a repeat at 10pm) on A&E. A few things to note:

- Tim Chapman is not in the beginning credits, nor was he on the show. He may have been kicked off due to his troubles when he performed lewd acts and almost ran over a police officer.

- Baby Lyssa is now part of the team permanantly and is in the beginning credits.

- The editing is a bit more “snazzy” and they changed a few of the sounds to make it sound more polished. Subtle, but I like it better.

- The team is now Leland, Beth, Duane Lee, Baby Lyssa, and Dog.

The only crappy part was that the first episode of the new season was filmed in Colorado. They are still OK, but it’s more fun when you get to watch an episode that can happen in your hometown. They said the next episode was still going to be in Colorado, so who knows, when they start showing episodes in Hawaii, maybe Tim is back on board. Still though, for the first episode of this season, it was quite exciting (I won’t give anything away) and was an hour long.

So if you are a Dog fan and are happy that his show is back on air, catch him every Wednesdays at 6pm and a repeat at 10pm (Hawaii time)!

Dog the Bounty Hunter Back On Air On A&E

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Flipping through channels last night, I caught a story that A&E will start a new season of Dog the Bounty Hunter.  For Dog fans, this should be very exciting for them.  With the series suspended due to Dog’s racial slur of his son’s girlfriend, and even the indecent exposure story of his workmate Tim Chapman, the show looked like it would never show light anytime soon, if ever.

So why bring it back?  Money and ratings.  Before the show got cancelled, Dog the Bounty Hunter was A&E’s largest watched series.  By taking it off the air, A&E must have suffered some loss in making some money.  This isn’t by any means going to make A&E money again just by bring back the show.  It is ultimately up to the viewers whether the show will survive or not.  Although Dog has apologized profusely, there are people who were his fans that still don’t forgive him, and probably won’t watch the show again.  But hey, give the man a chance.  I know he didn’t do the right thing, but no one is perfect.

I enjoyed the show quite a lot when it was on-air, and since I was born and raised here in Hawaii, it makes the show even more exciting for me.  I think it was good move to bring back the show, not only for its entertainment, but also giving Dog another chance.  Hopefully all goes well with Dog, but he has to watch his back, because now he will be under a more watchful eye.

Tim Chapman from Dog the Bounty Hunter Arrested for Attempted Murder and Indecent Exposure

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

For all of you who used to watch Dog the Bounty Hunter, Dog’s associate Tim Chapman, was caught at the Ala Moana Center in the Bank of Hawaii parking lot with his clothes off in his truck performing lewd acts.  When witnesses contacted Ala Moana security, the security guard asked Tim to put on his clothes and get out of his truck.

Tim put on his clothes, then started his car, hopped a curb and almost hit the security guard.  Now, Tim is charged on suspicion of attempted murder for almost hitting the security guard, and indecent exposure in a public area. What I didn’t know was that Tim had separated from his Samoan wife and had been living out of his truck.  When police went over to his Hawaii Kai home, they were told that information.   But Brook Hart, Tim and Dog’s attorney, has said that this was an entire misunderstanding.

Brook had stated that Tim spilled orange juice on his pants and was looking for a private place to change his pants.  And when the security guard startled him, he panicked and drove away as fast as he can.  If this is true, I can somewhat understand that.  I mean with the latest cancellation of Dog the Bounty Hunter reality show, and with all of them almost losing their celebrity status, Tim separation with his wife is just another bad thing that has happened to the Dog ohana.

Tim has already turned himself into police and was notified that he might be charged for only terroristic threatening instead of the other two charges.  He is currently in a cell block since last night.  Let’s hope all this gets resolved.

Dog the Bounty Hunter Series Suspended Due to Racial Slur

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

The ever popular A&E hit series, Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been suspended by A&E due to Duane “Dog” Chapman saying racial slurs to his son’s African American girlfriend.  So what happened?  Basically, Dog told his son Tucker to dump his girlfriend, Monique Shinnery, and used the n-word six times, which was recorded by Tucker and sold to the National Enquirer who first came out with the story.  The reason for telling his son to break up with his girlfriend was because Dog admits that he uses the n-word at their office and that Tucker’s girlfriend might take offense to it if Dog uses the n-word during casual conversation.

Below is a transcript between Dog and his son Tucker (Source: Star Bulletin):

Chapman: Don’t care if she’s a Mexican, a whore, whatever. It’s not ’cause she’s black. It’s because we use the word “n_____” sometimes here. I’m not going to take a chance ever in life by losing everything I’ve worked for for 30 years for some f____ n_____ heard us say “n_____” and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine — our career is over. I’m not taking that chance at all, never in life, never. Never. … If Lyssa was dating a n_____, we would all say f___ you. And you know that. If Lyssa brought a black guy home … It’s not that they’re black. It’s none of that. It’s that we use the word “n____.” We don’t mean “you f___ scum n_____ without a soul.” We don’t mean that s___, but America would think we’re meaning that. And we’re not taking a chance and losing everything we’ve got over a racial slur. Because our son goes with a girl like that, I can’t do that, Tucker, you can’t expect Garry, Bonnie, Cecily, all them young kids … ’cause I’m in love for seven months, I … f___ that. … So I’ll help you get another job, but you cannot work here unless you break up with her and she’s out of your life. I can’t handle that s___. I’ve got ‘em in the parking lot trying to record us. I’ve got that girl saying she’s going to wear a recorder. …

Tucker: I … I … don’t even know what to say.

Hopefully this issue gets resolved.  Even though I haven’t met Dog, he seems like a very nice person and I feel as though he did not have any malicious intent when using the n-word.  I can’t justify the reason for Dog or anyone else who is not black to use the n-word, but just knowing how Dog is, I say give him some slack.  I know I know, he’s a celebrity, so people expect him to only get a slap on the hand.  But he has already issued an apology, and has admitted that he should not have used the word, especially in casual conversation.

Let’s hope Dog gets out of this.  Dog is a good man doing good deeds.  Help him instead of hurting him.  He’s gone through enough already.

“Dog the Bounty Hunter” to Feature Music from Hawaiian Musicians

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

According to the Honolulu Advertiser, the hit A&E show Dog the Bounty Hunter will now feature the majority of its music from Hawaiian musicians.  If you catch the show on a regular basis, you might have noticed that the music playing in the background for this new season has been more local artists from Hawaii.

The show’s producers want to include more different types of genres of of music made by Hawaii artists.  They will include traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music, Jawaiian, and jazz.  In last night’s episode, they featured a Hawaiian rap artist.

The upcoming fifth season should include more music from Hawaii artists, which will start in April , although you can already tell they are including more of it now.  This is good, since Hawaii artists do have a lot to offer, yet their music are normally just played in Hawaii.  Hawaiian artists also struggle a lot to get their music out to the world, and unless they are already famous, they usually can’t make it out of Hawaii.  Case in point, Isreal Kamakawiwaole’s song was featured on an Adam Sandler movie, which helped put Hawaiian music on the map.  If it wasn’t for the movie, not many people would have got the chance or given the artist the opportunity to listen to what Hawaii artists have to offer.

I think this is a good way of showing the world that Hawaii does have music artists of all genres, and that we are good at it as well.  Hopefully this will help local artists get their music played around the world soon.
