President Obama and Family Leave Hawaii

Monday, January 4th, 2010

President Barack Obama spent 11 days on the island of Oahu, trying to get away in the quiet windward town of Kailua.  Although the health bill cut their stay a few days short on the front end, and the vacation was interrupted by terrorist attack on a plane in Detriot, all in all, it seemed to be a relaxing time for the family.

The first family again stayed at the $8.9 million dollar estate on the beach on Kailuana Place near the Kaneohe Marine Base.  Creating community accepted inconveniences such as car searches and home sweeps.  The house is for sale and can be yours for the price tag (and hey, if you buy it, you can own the place where the president stayed, pretty cool if you ask us.)

While they were in Hawaii the Obama’s spent time at Hanauma Bay, enjoyed dinner at Alan Wong’s and enjoyed all of Sea Life Park to themselves.  Reporters and eager onlookers tried to get a glimpse of the family anytime the presidential motorcade passed by, closing down streets, highways, and parks.

Also on the list was a trip to the North Shore to check out the waves and a private screening of “Avatar,” the 3D version, at Windward mall.

If you follow their trip exactly, it won’t be all to yourselves, but it’ll be a great way to see all of Oahu.

Barack Obama Taking it Easy in Hawaii

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Another update on Barack Obama and family spending their holiday season in Hawaii.

Barack and Michelle spent another morning working out at the Semper Fit Center on the Kaneohe Marine Base on the island of Oahu.  The couple, with family, friends and staff, are staying on the island in the town of Kailua just minutes from the maring base on a Kailuana Place beach front estate.

The couple left their estate just after 7 am and returned just before 10 am, as they have done each day previously.  After a workout the couple again stopped to shake hands, take pictures, and chat with military families who came out to the workout center parking lot to catch a glimpse of president-elect.

No word on what he has planned for today and on my Kayak trip up the beach today I didn’t see him or his entourage out and about.

We’ll keep you posted!

Barack Obama Enjoying Kailua

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

President elect Barack Obama is enjoying his Hawaii vacation already.  He and his family arrived Saturday December 20th around 3 pm and quickly headed out to the windward side of Oahu.

The family is enjoying a beach vacation rental on Kailua Beach at Kailuana Place near the Aikahi shopping center.View Map of Kailuana Place, Kailua.

The Obama’s spent sunday morning walking the beach and working out at the fitness center of Kaneohe Marine Base. Barack Obama also played a round of golf at the public course near Waimanalo, Olomana.

There has been a disturbance in the normal quite town of Kailua with tinted SUV’s causing traffic to stand still, parts of the beach blocked off at times and even residents of Kailuana Place needing car vehicle searches before returning home.

However, no one in the town seems to mind as a hometown hero is hanging around and spending his holiday vacation in paradise.
