Hawaii Won’t Get Casinos
Thursday, February 25th, 2010Well, you’ll still have to travel to Las Vegas to gamble all you California Hotel junkies. The state house finance committee rejected the latest proposed idea to get a casino on Oahu.
The idea was proposed to try and help out the budget deficit which has created furlough fridays for so many people across the state of Oahu and the Hawaiian islands. So many people have been affected by the latest budget cuts due to the budget deficit that so many people thought this bill might get some legs.
But, there was nothing coming. It’s pretty amazing given the circumstances. The circumstances being that the number one vacation destination for Hawaii is Las Vegas, or at least it’s one of the tops. And, the big AND, Hawaii and Utah are the only states in the union that don’t allow any form of gambling. Wow!
Interesting stuff. Can’t wait to hear the reasons why not, and why. Usually the same old same from this conversation. But would love to hear your opinions.
