Founded of AlohaUpdate.com over 5 years ago and still the lead editor and director of content creation, Erik also finds time to program all aspects of the site and drive his designer nuts. PHP is just too fun to play with. If I'm not editing or tinkering with the site you can find me kiting, surfing, sweeping the ocean on my stand-up, paddling an OC1, windsurfing, biking, running, hiking, golfing, or battling on the kickball field. Occasionally he'll also drink a nice frosty beverage he's brewed (killer all-grain system) while reading a good book on business or playing some sort of stringed instrument. (Yes, he is self-diagnosed ADD)

Taryn

Taryn was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but was raised in the mainland with her mother in Austin, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin she moved back to the islands in 2002. Taryn now calls Kahalu'u home living with her husband and their two beagles. Island life is what brought Taryn back to Hawaii after 13 years. She is an avid surfer and prides herself as a strong water-woman. In her leisure Taryn also enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and hiking the island trails with her dogs. Taryn currently works in real estate and has been doing part-time freelance writing for the past 4 years.

We've snagged him for keeping you up to date on the general news of Hawaii and those items that he thinks you may care about. Sometimes opinionated, which we like, cause if he wasn't it'd just be another boring news clip.

Anthony is our resident foodie who is known for his tenacity at unsanctioned eating contests, winning numerous unofficial titles. He loves to try new restaurants, lunch wagons, or hidden gems, and isn't afraid to tell you what he thinks. He is known to look like a tourist when capturing pictures for his restaurant reviews, so if you see him, feel free to introduce yourself. Aside from that, he follows the UFC and anything MMA with the utmost passion, ever since the very first televised UFC bout when wearing gloves and groin cups were not required. He wishes that he could work for Dana White, is an avid fan of BJ Penn, owns copious amounts of RVCA apparel, named his dog Rampage, and won't stop talking about the latest fights if you get him started.

What more can you say than we have a resident Big Wave surfer. Drew has a passion for the ocean and loves to share it with others, lucky you. He also likes to promote environmental issues and help others learn how they can help keep our wonderful islands around for centuries to come. He lives out on the North Shore and wouldn't miss a new swell for anything.
